Description:
Between Two Worlds (2021) is a French drama starring Juliette Binoche as Marianne Winckler, a renowned author who goes undercover to explore the precarious lives of low-wage workers in northern France. Disguising her identity, Marianne takes on grueling cleaning jobs, documenting the challenges faced by her colleagues, many of whom struggle with job insecurity. As she befriends Chrystèle, a single mother, Marianne’s secret threatens both her friendships and her moral compass. Directed by Emmanuel Carrère and adapted from Florence Aubenas’s bestselling memoir The Night Cleaner, the film offers a powerful examination of economic inequality and journalistic ethics.

Special Note: This screening has been curated by Alice Wuertele, who will host a discussion following the film.
