September is always a special month in the Main Gallery of Catamount Arts because it is the month each year when Catamount’s own special group of artists, the Catamount Gallery Group, presents its annual exhibition.
A special reception to honor the Gallery Group will be held from 5 pm – 7 pm this Friday, September 12, at the community arts center on Eastern Avenue in St. Johnsbury. The public is invited to attend this reception free of charge. Refreshments will be served.
This year, in addition to many of the area’s well-known and popular artists, the group show features several artists who are new to the area. More than 30 works in a wide variety of mediums are on view
There are 23 featured artists in this year’s exhibit, including Rosie Prevost, Edward Kadunc, Jack A. Stewart, Sharon Kenny Biddle, Joan Harlowe, Judith Unger, Bob Manning, Sachiko Yoshida, Larry Golden, Bill Tulp, Gary Trotter, Nancy E. Schade, Micale B. Estar, Ann Young, Jen Edick, Kim Darling, Bill Darling, Lian Brehm, Donna Marshall, Claire Van Vliet, Frederick Rude, Cynthia Steil and Naomi Bossom.
These artists are exhibiting works in a wide variety of mediums including photos, oils, wood sculpture, mixed media, watercolor, stoneware sculpture, stained glass mosaic, pencil drawings, etchings, pulp painting, acrylic and colleges.
The annual exhibit is organized and curated by Manning, a local artist and art historian who is also on Catamount’s Board of Directors.
“This exhibit is always one of my favorites each year,” Manning said recently. “It seems to bring out the best qualities and new works in our local artists.”
Visitors may view the exhibit for the entire month of September.
The galleries at Catamount Arts are open to the public free of charge from 11 am – 6 pm Monday through Saturday and before and after each film screening.
